Professional development opportunities, an opportunity for an adventure, and attractive pay are the reasons why highly educated technical professionals seek employment abroad, according to the salaries abroad survey carried out by the Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK. The monthly median salary of TEK members working abroad was €9,414, in Finland €5,710.

According to a recent study, people with doctoral degrees still have higher salaries than those with a lower-level degree. However, the labour market has cooled off significantly for doctors since the early 2000s. According to surveys conducted by TEK in the autumn of 2023, AI tools have been adopted faster in studies than in working life. However, there is a lot of uncertainty among tech students about the use of artificial intelligence. Respondents in working life, on the other hand, are very confident about the continuation of their own employment despite the increasing use of AI tools.
