The award for the best doctoral thesis of the year goes to Eric Hyyppä. The best master’s thesis (diplomityö) has potentially created a way to use the waste heat from quantum computers. The best master’s thesis (pro-gradu) on the other hand will benefit medical imaging. TEK, TFiF and MAL will award the theses today.

VTT:n Serpent-koodin kehittäjät.
The Serpent code, which originated from a doctoral dissertation, is used by more than 200 organisations, including MIT and Cambridge. The calculation code models the interaction of neutrons and photons. The team at VTT that has been developing the code was presented with the Cornerstone Award by TEK and TFiF.
