TEK supports you during change negotiations

Many TEK members are currently facing the uncertainty brought about by change negotiations; some have also faced furloughs and redundancies. Change negotiations are often stressful for the whole organisation, even if they do not directly affect you personally.

If you’d like to discuss and relieve stress with a professional, TEK offers its full members 1–2 remote sessions with a psychologist or psychotherapist from Mindy. MindCare helps you to pause and reflect on your own situation from different angles. During the sessions, you will look for practical ways to strengthen your mental well-being.

In the workplace, you are also supported by shop stewards, who are supported and trained by YTN and JUKO and who represent professional staff* in change negotiations. YTN is the joint bargaining organisation for TEK and other Akava-affiliated unions in the private sector, whilst JUKO is the equivalent body in the public sector.

Register as an unemployed jobseeker preferably on your first day of unemployment or lay-off via the E-Services section of Työmarkkinatori.fi and apply for unemployment benefit from the KOKO fund. Please also notify TEK’s member services, as this will entitle you to a significant reduction in your membership fee. Read more here.

If you are unsure whether your dismissal was lawful, you can discuss the matter with a TEK lawyer. If you are over 55, you should also apply for transition security.

In autumn 2026, you can take part in online trainings such as ‘Mastering the hidden job market’, ‘CV and Job Application’ and ‘Recognise and Communicate Yours Skills’.
