Mentoring

Mentoring is a great way to exchange ideas and get tips on career changes, strengthen your professional identity, and identify your strengths. The TEK mentoring programme is one of a kind: it focuses on people with a technical background.

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a confidential discussion between two people, which in its traditional format means that someone with longer professional experience (the mentor) gives professional support and tips to another person (the mentee). Mentoring can also take other formats: In reverse mentoring, the professionally younger partner gives support to the more experienced one, and in peer mentoring, the mentoring pair shares experiences and expertise together, without the traditional mentor-mentee arrangement.

The TEK mentoring programme is held online, so you can participate from anywhere in Finland or the world. Mentoring is a great way to exchange ideas and get tips on career changes, strengthen your professional identity, identify your strengths, and build professional networks.

A special feature of TEK's mentoring programme is the focus on people with a technical background. Who better to know your professional life and environment than another TEK member? You get to dive deeper into the field of technology and share experiences on your own path with professionals who may have made similar choices themselves and understand your everyday work.

How to get involved in mentoring?

A new programme starts in the autumn and lasts for 6 months. We require participants to be full members of TEK for the duration of the programme. We will inform you about the content of the new programme, the application criteria, and the opening of the applications in the event calendar and membership letters.

“Mentoring has given me a perspective on all stages of my career, psychological support, self-confidence at difficult moments, a positive boost during my day and a new friend.”
