According to the employment data collected by the Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK, 2,349 people with an academic degree in technology were unemployed at the end of November. In addition, 1,132 people were fully laid off. The number of unemployed people remained close to the level in October, but the number of laid off workers fell.

– Our worst fears were dispelled, says Labour Market Director of TEK and Chair of YTN Teemu Hankamäki.

According to Hankamäki, the situation of academic engineers, architects and others with a Master’s Degree in Technology seems stable for now.

– The number of lay-offs has gone down, while unemployment has not increased. This is a good sign and most likely indicates that no major turn for the worse can be expected in the next few months.

According to the data collected by TEK, 3.4 percent of those with an academic degree in technology were unemployed and 1.6 percent were laid off at the end of November. 4.3 percent of recent graduates were unemployed.
