The title of Tommy Kroon’s project was Computational Modelling of Salmon Migration in the Tornionjoki River.
For this work, Kroon received the KMS Ocean Futures Award. KMS, or Kiel Marine Science, is the marine science centre of Kiel University. The prize is an opportunity to participate in the FYORD Summer School programme next year. FYORD is an international marine research event held in Kiel for Master’s students and doctoral researchers.
Swara Pandharkar received the EIROforum Prize for the project Exploration of Hydrogel’s Swelling Properties for Biomedical Applications.
More information about the project is available on the EUCYS website.
The prize was presented by the European research facility European Spallation Source. The award consists of a one-week study visit to the facility.
Finland was also represented by Sahana Suresh with the project Comparing Thermophilic and Mesophilic Amylases and How They Can Be Used to Improve Therapeutic Enzyme Stability.
More information about the project is available on the EUCYS website.
Tommy Kroon, Swara Pandharkar and Sahana Suresh won the Kipinä competition organised by TEK last spring.
