- Managing Director, kood/Sisu
- Social Impact Award, finalist
I have created a completely new business-driven, workplace-oriented software development training programme called kood/Sisu in Finland. It is based on the vision of eight bold companies, a vision that I have brought to life.
Together with a network of companies, I wanted to establish a school that would prepare individuals directly for working life, without the need for lengthy induction training.
Over the past two years, more than 10,000 people have applied to kood/Sisu, all of whom have a strong desire to pursue a new direction in their lives in the technology sector. No previous degree or experience is required to apply – we offer many applicants the opportunity to start a new life, provided they are motivated and committed. This is of great importance to society.
I don’t have a technical background myself, and I believe there are advantages to that. I think of kood/Sisu not just as a school, but as a small startup where the recipe for success comes from ambitious people, a strong vision, and a persistent desire to challenge the status quo. That’s what I’m good at, and that’s why I’ve entered the field through this job.
I’ve experienced my work and the field as gender-equal. In my opinion, there are strong female role models in the field, and I want to be one myself. I have not experienced age discrimination or anything similar.
