TEK is considered the most attractive trade union. Taloustutkimus Oy examined the current image of trade unions in its Finland Today 2025: Trade Unions study conducted between January and March 2025.
The study included 24 trade unions. According to the respondents, 31% found TEK attractive, and another 31% had a neutral view of TEK. A total of 3,594 people responded to the study. Regarding TEK, responses came from both members and individuals who had at least some impression of TEK – altogether 556 people.
TEK also has the best overall image among the unions. When measuring general appreciation on a scale of 4 to 10, TEK received an average score of 7.57. This score was given by both members and those familiar with TEK.
According to the study, TEK offers the second-best member benefits and services among all unions. Taloustutkimus does not permit the disclosure of other unions' rankings.
Mostly satisfied members
TEK members are generally satisfied with the union. Among full members who responded to the Finland Today survey, 75% were very or fairly satisfied with TEK. A neutral opinion was held by 19%, while 6% were fairly dissatisfied. No respondents reported being very dissatisfied.
TEK also assessed member satisfaction as part of a separate survey conducted by Taloustutkimus in March 2025. This survey received 864 responses from both full and student members. TEK negotiates these agreements as part of YTN and JUKO. YTN (The Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff) negotiates for members of Akava unions in the private sector, while JUKO (Negotiation Organization for Public Sector Professionals) handles negotiations in the public sector.
According to the survey, 88% of respondents intended to remain TEK members in the following year – a high rate, according to Taloustutkimus.
