This talk offers practical, research-based tools for dealing with stress so that pressure becomes a source of growth rather than a burden.

During the session, you will learn:

  • what happens in the brain as pressure increases—and why some people burn out while others don’t
  • how stress can become a resource when approached in a new way
  • what anyone can do today to strengthen their ability to work and perform tomorrow
  • how mindsets influence performance, wellbeing, and health
  • concrete, research-backed ways to break cycles of worry and build resilience

You will leave with a new and liberating way to understand stress, along with practical stress-management skills that help you:

  • increase your endurance even if stress itself doesn’t necessarily decrease
  • improve focus and cognitive performance
  • strengthen your long-term capacity to work and overall wellbeing

The result is an insightful and practical session that offers a new way to relate to stress—and, through it, a new way to perform, lead, and thrive.

The book Stressiharha

Why do mindsets matter?

Often, just when we feel completely exhausted, there is still more left in us than we realize—not because we can push harder, but because we are able to pause and notice what truly matters. It takes courage to look at stress in a new light and allow it to guide us toward what is important.

This book challenges deeply rooted beliefs about stress and invites readers to view it from a new perspective—not only at the individual level, but also within the broader culture of working life. The book combines strong scientific research with everyday situations and the challenges of modern work. It offers research-based, practical ways to shift mindsets and teaches how to face stress in a sustainable way that supports wellbeing and resilience.

Laura Sokka is a Doctor of Psychology, a specialist in neuropsychology, and a psychotherapist. Her doctoral research focused on changes in brain function related to burnout, and she has worked with patients for more than 20 years. Her research led her to question whether the way we talk about workload and stress in working life may sometimes sustain the problem rather than help solve it.

As a member of TEK, you have the opportunity to purchase Laura’s book, released on January 21, 2026, at a special price of €27.95 (regular price €39.90).
