This year marks the 120th anniversary of TEK. During the year, TEK will donate a total of one million euro for Finnish universities of technology.

The sum will be distributed to the universities according to the ratio of engineering students.

The first donation was made on TEK's birthday, 17 March, to Tampere University of Technology in the anniversary seminar organised in cooperation with the university.

– Donations are one method of promoting TEK's anniversary year theme, Competitive edge through competence, as universities of technology are in a key position to develop the competitiveness of Finland, says Marjo Matikainen-Kallström, Chairperson of the Board at TEK.

The state has agreed to capitalise universities up to triple to what they will have acquired by the end of 2017 in private funding if the allocated appropriation of EUR 150 million suffices. Therefore, TEK's donations this year may indicate up to EUR 4 million in additional funding for Finnish universities of technology.
